In Italy, where the kitchen is the heart of the home and where coffee is a passion that brings friends and family together, Bialetti is found in nine out of ten households.
Bialetti first brought the world the legendary Moka Express stovetop espresso maker in 1933, revolutionising the way Italians enjoyed their beloved espresso forever. Today, Bialetti has truly earned its iconic status with coffee lovers and design aficionados.
In 1919 Alfonso Bialetti opened a workshop in Crusinallo, Italy to make semi-finished goods in aluminium, which turned into a studio for designing and producing finished items using shell moulding.
However, it was in 1933 when he invented the MOKA Express that the Bialetti story really began. It was the beginning of a brand that transformed the art of making coffee into an action so simple and natural that it has become an essential rite in every Italian home.
Between 1957 and 1977, popularity was boosted greatly with advertising on the Carosello - a 10 minute spot of advertising shown on Italian national TV every night. More a comic segment than serious advertising, and Bialetti's 'little man with a moustache' was a frequent visitor.
For almost 100 years Bialetti has stood by traditional values with a series of flavours, colours and tastes that speak of home, daily rituals, and good times. Bialetti revolutionised the art of making coffee, and backed by its expertise it continues to evolve and renew its products, to satisfy the wishes of every single kitchen, in Italy and around the world.
