Back in '92, Atomic Coffee Roasters opened on Ponsonby Road, before café culture was even a thing in New Zealand. They were the scruffy kid on the block, serving live music and damn good coffee from a tiny spot wedged between fine dining joints. It was raw, it was real, and it resonated.
By '95, the queues outgrew their slice on the strip, so they shifted to Kingsland and found their groove in a creative, eclectic neighbourhood. From there, Atomic went all in, roasting late into the night, testing, tweaking, tasting, and chasing perfection one batch at a time.
These days, Kingsland is still their home base, with espresso bars dotted across Auckland serving up the same uncompromising quality they have built their name on. No need to comb your hair or hide your tats, just bring your good taste.
