Southbound Coffee - Anbessa Reserve - Ethiopia

  • Roast Level: Medium
  • Origin: Ethiopia
  • Tasting Notes: Pomegranate, Melon, Chocolate

More Info

Here at Southbound we absolutely LOVE natural processed Ethiopian coffees. A controversial stance we assume plainly!

Our Anbessa Reserve is full of character with notes of Pomegranate and the sweetness of a ripe Melon with a good chunk of chocolate.

A medium roast like no other.

Fantastic in black coffees, plungers, filters. Makes for interesting espressos. Not so much for cold brew we find.

Traceability:

This coffee is sourced from Adame Kebele within the Gedeo Zone of the South Ethiopia Regional State. This region provides perfect environment conditions for coffee cultivation.
The farms contributing to this lot are nestled at a high altitude, ranging from 1950 to 2100 m.a.s.l. These elevated conditions are crucial, as they promote a slower maturation of the coffee cherries, allowing for the development of more complex sugars and intricate flavor profiles. The soil, characterized as fertile, red-brown, and well-drained, provides an optimal foundation for healthy coffee plant growth and nutrient absorption.

It is meticulously shade-grown, a traditional practice that not only fosters biodiversity but also allows the coffee cherries to ripen more slowly and evenly, contributing to a richer and more nuanced cup. The region experiences an average annual rainfall of 1800-2000mm and average annual temperatures of 20-2
