 Bruer Cold Brew Guide

Brew Ratio 1:12
Coffee Beans
Medium Grind
Kettle
15°C - 20°C Water

What you'll need:
  • Bruer Cold Brew
  • Freshly roasted coffee beans - medium roast is recommended
  • Filtered or bottled water
  • Ice cubes (optional)
  • Coffee scale
Method
  1. Measure out 60 grams of ground coffee (medium grind).
  2. Assemble the filter - making sure the finer side of the mesh is facing up. Put the glass tower into the filter
  3. Pour your ground coffee into the tower, brush any loose grounds down into the chamber. Shake the Tower to level out the coffee bed and place a paper filter on top of the coffee bed.
  4. Carefully place the Tower into the Carafe.
  5. Pre-wet the coffee with about 60ml of water to evenly soak the grounds (Bloom).
  6. Insert the valve by carefully pushing the plug down into the tower. Pro tip: Wet the lip of the seal to help it slide in more easily.
  7. Measure out 700ml of an ice/water mixture (about half water and half ice). Pour the mixture into the tower.
  8. Let it drip for 3-8 hours until it has finished extracting. Pour & Enjoy your cold brew coffee!
Brew Ratio

For the Bruer Cold Brew Coffee Maker, a good starting brew ratio is 1:12 (coffee to water) for a balanced coffee. This depends on how strong you want your brew.

  • Strong: 1:10 → 70-80g coffee : 700ml water
  • Balanced:1:12 → 60g coffee : 700ml water
  • Light: 1:14 → 50g coffee : 700ml water
Extraction Time

The optimal extraction time for the Bruer Cold Brew System is typically between 3 to 8 hours, depending on your taste preference and grind size.

  • 3 to 4 hours:
Produces a lighter, smoother brew with subtle flavours. Good if you prefer a milder cold brew.

  • 5 to 6 hours:
Balanced extraction, richer flavour with good body and sweetness. This is the most common recommended range.

  • 7 to 8 hours:
Fuller-bodied, stronger, and more intense. Great if you like a bolder cold brew concentrate.
